New messaging mobile applications can become a threat for Facebook

Facebook has recently faced a real threat posed by modern messaging mobile applications such as North American startups Kik and WhatsApp, Kakao Talk from Kakao Inc., Line from NHN Corp. and WeChat of Tencent Holdings Ltd. All those mobile applications have really blossomed in Europe and Asia increasing the audience each month.

Texting mobile applications combine elements of text messaging and social networks. So they provide the smartphone users with a way to exchange everything from brief texts, decorated with stickers to amazing pictures and YouTube clips.

Facebook with one billion users still remains the world’s most popular social network. As it focused on mobile it made Facebook the most-used mobile application as well. But at the same time more and more investors and experts say that texting mobile applications are going to threaten Facebook in the nearest few years. The larger representatives of such applications even start to emerge as full platforms that can support third-party applications – for example games.

To tell the truth many of those users who are using the new messaging mobile applications still have Facebook installed on their devices. This fact indicates that there is a little immediate sign of the media company losing its lock on the market.

There is one more new concerning Facebook but relating to Android – the world’s most popular smartphone operating system. It says that a new version Android could include a deeper integration of Facebook messaging tools – or even a Facebook-branded device. The representatives of Facebook declined to comment on that news.

The great challenge of Facebook is reeling back users like those teenagers saying that the texting applications like WhatsApp and Line blew up among them. They say that such applications remain the most-used ones because it is the easiest way to send different kinds of multimedia for free. According to the estimation an average teenager sends text messages about 200 times a day.
